It’s here now though and, if the new trailer highlights anything, it seems it will be for a long time, with the footage’s final moments confirming that Fast and Furious: Crossroads will have a season pass. According to Steam, the pack will include “new cars, customization items and more,” as well as “Owen Shaw’s Flip Car and inimitable Toyota Supra.”

As for the trailer itself, it shows off a handful of high-octane moments very befitting of the Fast and Furious film franchise. The footage itself begins with the team, including Dom and Letty, introducing the game’s central antagonist: Ormstrid. According to the action heroes, he’s a European racketeer, with Dom noting that he’s renown for “blackmail, extortion, [and] murder for hire.” The brief introduction kicks the trailer into hyperdrive, with the rest of the footage showing off the game’s most intense action setpieces. From high-speed street races and fast-paced battles with tanklike hovercrafts to daring chases with giant excavators and even a bid to destroy a rocket as it departs from a launchpad, it seems Crossroads isn’t looking to tone down its cinematic equivalents exaggerated tone.

That being said, it seems fans aren’t all too happy with this new video game adaptation of the Fast and Furious franchise. “They expect people to pay full price for this glorified mobile game, AND it has a season pass,” says one user in the trailer’s comment section, while a second echoes their sentiment, claiming “Movies made a BILLION BUCKS but they cant spend budget on making the graphics current gen.” A third viewer even claims they’re surprised “they didn’t stop production on this after realizing how horrible it looked and everyone hating it.”

All in all, it looks as though the blockbuster game has failed to make much of an impact on the franchise’s overwhelmingly large fanbase. With Fast and Furious: Crossroads launching today, it’ll be interesting to see what critics and fans have to say about the already seemingly panned licensed adaptation.

Fast and Furious: Crossroads is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
