In June, Christian Dior opened a new flagship in Hong Kong. To celebrate the shop launch, the brand offered 100 purses only in Hong Kong called One Peking Road, after the address of the store. The $565 bags sold out in two days. “Asians find numbered pieces to be highly collectible,” says Peter Cheung, Dior regional communications manager. “We found that many asked for anything with eight because eight is auspicious.” Next up: a new shoe from the sportswear brand Puma and innovative Chinese design house Shanghai Tang. At the Sept. 19 worldwide launch, you can count on another enthusiastic crowd excited by the numbers.
