Wood is used as a material to build most structures in Farthest Frontier, and it is also required to make fires needed to keep warm during the merciless Winter seasons. As such, it’s in the player’s interest to harvest and stockpile as much wood as possible in this simulator game, but that doesn’t mean they should go cutting down trees without thought.

How To Get Wood
The act of harvesting wood is simple. Just click on a tree and then select “Harvest Resource,” and workers should make their way to the tree and begin cutting it down. If players notice that their workers are prioritizing other tasks over harvesting wood, it helps to check the “Prioritized” box since harvesting resources like wood tends to have a very low default priority.
For larger logging operations, players can press the “Harvest Resources” button on the bottom right-hand corner or press the “H” key. From here, simply click and drag to mass-select particular resources for harvest. This is a very useful feature for beginners in Farthest Frontier.
While this method is beneficial, it can be dangerous in the long run. If players completely clear cut a forest, it will grow back significantly slower. Instead, it’s best to leave a few trees uncut, as they will help the forest to regrow at a much quicker pace.
Additionally, players that find they’ve already run out of forested areas nearby can also plant new trees by using the decorations menu. If all else fails, once the player has constructed the trading post in Farthest Frontier, merchants may show up and offer to sell wood to the player, although this is hardly a reliable way to get this coveted resource.
Eventually, players will gain the ability to hire Log Workers. These workers will automatically travel and gather wood for the player without the need to manually dictate which trees to cut down. If players hire enough of these Log Workers, they should have a fairly steady supply of wood to use for building and whatever else they may need it for. This way, players can focus more on things like the best crop rotations in Farthest Frontier and other survival necessities.
