It will take a player well over 50 hours to complete everything Far Cry 6 has to offer. That includes completing the story mode, finishing all the side missions, and crafting all possible equipment.

Like many games, Far Cry 6 lets players upgrade their gear. That being said, every single weapon upgrade requires gunpowder. There are three ways to consistently obtain it.

FND Crates

The most consistent sources of gunpowder are the grey and red FND crates scattered throughout the map. Most crates tend to have some gunpowder in them.

Unfortunately, their design doesn’t stand out much, so the player has to actively keep an eye out for them. They tend to be hidden inside military bases and liberated buildings or hidden somewhere in the wilderness. If a player has trouble finding the crates, they can have them marked on their map by bribing a double agent.

Military Supply Drops

Military Supply Drops are rarer than FND crates, with only 20 in the game. That being said, they’re easier to find and give bigger rewards, including gunpowder. Every supply drop is marked by a massive yellow smoke signal, which can be easily seen in the distance.

The player’s group isn’t the only one who can see the smoke plume, though. If a player is looking to get a military supply drop, they should expect a fight and come armed with Far Cry 6’s stronger weapons.

Bandido Operations

Bandido Operations are unlockable side missions, which tend to give rare rewards. In order to unlock them, the player has to recruit several hostages across Yara. Once the player has enough followers, they can take group missions posted on Bandido boards in El Este, Madrugaga, and Valle de Oro.

These missions and their rewards rotate over time and can’t be repeated, so this method is the most limited. That being said, the game does tell the player the rewards for each mission in advance, so it’s best to check the boards repeatedly to see if gunpowder is on the menu.

All in all, players shouldn’t worry too hard about collecting gunpowder when they first start. It’s best to wait until Far Cry 6’s endgame to use weapon mods. Still, it’s always a good idea to get prepared early.

Far Cry 6 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
