If I hadn’t witnessed this past week for myself, I wouldn’t even believe it to be quite honest with you. The Playbook model says to fade Clayton Kershaw and he gets shelled against the Diamondbacks. It says to avoid Jordan Zimmermann against the Red Sox and he lasts just 2.1 innings. Then our formulas rate random starters like Daniel Norris and Shane Greene over Carlos Carrasco coming off of a 10-strikeout game and he gets knocked out of the game by a line drive in the first inning. Then we forecast the Kyle Seager breakout a couple of days ago and tell everyone to play Giancarlo Stanton despite him being 3-for-23 on the season.

Let’s take a look at the early-game action here as we get four games to choose from in a slate that will likely see a lot of overlay across the industry.
