Is Melvin Gordon playing in Week 16?

The buzz last week was that Gordon (hip, knee) was planning to play in Week 16 against the Browns, but Chargers coach Mike McCoy said, “We’re going to see how it goes” when asked about it on Monday.

It’s good for fantasy owners that Gordon wants to play, but the out-of-contention Chargers have no reason to push him. For now, he’s out of our RB rankings until we get more positive reports.

A.J. Green injury update

All early indications are that Green (hamstring) will play in Week 16 against the Texans.

That sounds great, but keep in mind that’s a prime-time game against one of the best pass defenses in the league. We only rank Green 28th among WRs this week.

Jordan Reed ejection (suspension?), injury updates

Reed (shoulder) didn’t look like himself for a second straight game on Monday, and even worse for his fantasy owners, he was ejected for throwing a punch. While it’s highly unlikely he’ll be suspended for Week 16, it’s possible that he’s better left on the bench after clearly struggling and receiving spotty playing time.

We’ll know more after practice reports this week, but Reed is moving down our TE rankings.

Julio Jones injury news

Jones will go through a “full-speed test” of his injured toe on Wednesday, and presumably, if the Falcons like what they see, the star receiver will play in Week 16 against the Panthers.

Given the favorable matchup, we rank Jones as a top-five play.

Is Donte Moncrief playing in Week 16?

UPDATE: Moncrief returned to practice on Tuesday.

Moncrief (hamstring) was ruled out for week 15 relatively early and hasn’t had any updates since. That’s usually not a good sign for a player’s availability the following week.

Moncrief won’t be in our Week 16 WR rankings until we hear some positive reports on him.

Lamar Miller injury update

Miller is notorious for having a lot of bumps and bruises, but his latest ailment doesn’t figure to keep him out – at least according to him. Miller said he’ll “be out there” against the Bengals in Week 16.

If he’s not, some combination of Akeem Hunt and Alfred Blue figure to get the bulk of the carries for Houston, but for now, we’re taking Miller at his word, ranking him sixth among RBs.

Ladarius Green concussion news

The Steelers have been mum on Green’s status after suffering a concussion on a nasty hit in last Sunday’s game against the Bengals. Given his reported history with head issues, it’s safe to assume Pittsburgh will proceed with caution here.

We don’t have Green in our TE rankings, so if you were counting on him, it’s best to look elsewhere. Fortunately, we list a bunch of streaming options among our top Week 16 waiver pickups.
